(Click or press any key for next) Woah :0 My art has definitely had a MAJOR improvement since I drew the original. It’s been about 2 years since I began digital art, (the anniversary of my first piece is January 3rd) so I’ve decided to redraw a bunch of my old art from different eras. I’ll be making a project with all my redraws on my actual anniversary, but I thought I’d share this first one for now. The original was made on September 1st this year, and my art’s definitely had a major glow-up since then, despite my similar eye style to back then. Anyways, let’s get on with the process. -- Process: 1. Finished drawing 2. Original drawing (Made on September 1st this year) 3. Basic sketch + head and face details - I always do hair and face details before sketching the body, so that’s why the face is already there 4. I sketched her clothes on a new layer - Not much to say about this one 5. Lineart 6. Flat coloring - When it started to look decent 7. Hair highlights - Blurred to level 16 and at 30% opacity 8. Colored overlay - I decided I was going to give this drawing an effect I call the “night effect”, with a black overlay of 65% 9. Light source and white highlights - 40% opacity and set to “overlay” blend mode 10. Shadows - I did neck shadows, leg shadows, and shadows near the shoulders where the sleeves stop, set to 59% opacity 11. Just some extra hair lighting effects - Set to 20% opacity and “overlay” blend mode 12. Added some extra effects to the lineart - You can’t see it very well, but I took a yellow airbrush on a layer above the lineart and clipped the layer to the lineart to make the lineart pop a bit more 13. Background - It’s hard to explain my background process, but basically I did black for the background then made a layer above it and made some red airbrush swirls and then set their opacity very low 14. A detail I added the background - Sometimes I enjoy adding extra stuff to the background to stand out. In this case, I decided to do the silhouette of Charlotte’s gem. Since you can’t see most of it behind Cate, I gave it a separate image for y’all to see 15. Finished drawing - I set the silhouette of Charlotte’s gem to “hard light” blend mode to bring the drawing together -- And that’s my process! Personally, although my current art is much better than my old art, I don’t HATE the old one. After all, I was just trying to draw, and I think it was pretty okay actually. But thank you for reading all the way down if you did ^^
