I really really like this one, and I finally got some more brushes in MediBang, so that helped. It’s of Austin after he leaves the Black Labs’ den (read backstory) 2. Some little sketches of Austin. I like this too. Backstory in the notes and credits (sorry it’s super long) Enjoy! :D The thumbnail isn’t working, so sorry! Idk what I can do to fix it. Backstory: Austin was born in the wilderness of the forest. All his litter mates were born dead and his mother died from labor. This left Austin with significant health issues. Freddie, his father had no other choice but to bring Austin to a human town, his former life. He knew that only humans could keep Austin alive. Freddie carried Austin to his former home and dropped him on the doorstep because he knew that these owners would treat his son with care. Freddie secretly swore to Austin that one day he would come back to set his son free from the humans, so they could both live in the wild, just the two of them. Though Austin could not hear at this time, he would later find out that his father kept his word, just not exactly the way he said it. Time passed. Austin was more than happy to live with humans, he had never even remembered his father. Then when Austin was 3 years old he heard barking outside his front door. He walked through the dog door that had specifically been made for a 100 pound dog. Outside he saw an old dog, a dog that looked somewhat like him, just Austin was bigger. The dog was a German Shepherd and he ran up to Austin and started licking him. “Um, do I know you?” Austin asked confused. “You do not remember me, but I am your father.” said the dog in a rasping voice. Austin immediately accepted the old dog as his father and the two caught up for a few minutes. Austin’s owners then called him to come back inside. The old dog said, “This is your decision to make, but come with me into the forest, so we can live just the two of us.” Austin said yes, ditching the collar round his neck and running with his father into the forest. They spent a few months there together, but then Freddie died of old age in the peacefulness of his sleep. Austin could not get over this. For weeks Austin just lay, weeping of his dead father, the only family he knew. He realized on the third week that this would not have been what his father wanted of him, Austin had to act strong and tough even though there was a deep scar through his heart. From then on he began to travel throughout the forest and explore. He met so many other animals, most of which were rude saying that “a domesticated dog doesn’t belong in the wild”. Austin enjoyed the solitude, but he did miss having company. He began talking to himself and play-fighting himself. Most animals would think this as childish and weird, but Austin didn’t care. He was his own dog and nobody would order him what to do. Austin, now four, came across a dog scent in the forest. Not a fox or wolf, but a domesticated dog. He followed the scent to den and in there he saw four dogs. Two older ones and two young ones, all Black Labs. One of the young ones said, “Who are you? You’re trespassing in our den.” The other young one said, “Oh Scotch, don’t be so rude. This dog isn’t wild, he’s domesticated like us.” “Hmph. Any one that doesn’t live with us is trouble. You should know that Lily.” said Scotch. Lily then got up and walked up over to Austin. “Don’t mind Scotch.” she said, “Why don’t you come in. There’s plenty of room. I’m Lily though you probably figured that out. Scotch is my brother over there. And those two sleeping in the back are our parents, Jack and Anna. Who are you?” “I’m Austin. And from then on Austin stayed with the Black Labs. A month later Jack and Anna died from old age. Austin helped Lily and Scotch cope with the pain from his own experience, but Scotch didn’t trust Austin. He thought that Austin was stealing his sister from him, so he came up with a plan to get rid of him. *** Scotch was in the forest trying to find a special plant. There, he said inside his head. He carefully picked up the plant and brought it back to his den. In front of the place he always ate at, he laid down the plant. Perfect, he thought. Then he quickly ran out of the den and just minutes later Austin walked in with different plants in his mouth. He walked over to where everyone always ate and laid down those plants in front of everyone’s “seat”. He then noticed that Scotches place already had plants in front of it. Weird, he thought. Thinking no more of it, he called Lily and Scotch to say that dinner was ready. Only seconds into the meal Scotch said, “Austin! Are you trying to poison me?” Lily looked confused and Austin even more. “These are poisonous plants you gave me!” “Austin, how could you?” Lily said aghast. “But... but I didn’t! The plants were already there before I came!” “Don’t make excuses!” said Scotch, “Leave!” “Lily, I” Austin said desperately. “No. Leave now.” she said, and so Austin did. Lily nor Austin were smart enough to realize that they had been tricked, so Austin now just wanders throughout the forest, all alone once again.
