sooo this is part 2 of chapter 1 a lot more people liked part one then I had thought, so heres part 2 haha Part 1 is on my profile if you missed it :P also, the rest of the chapter just barely didnt fit within scratch's character limit, so im going to make a part 3 very soon Note: this is a work in progress, and barely edited as of now. I will most likely change things before I finish all the chapters :P I entered a circular room that was also completely covered in bookshelves, save for a large fireplace with a roaring fire. The bookshelves reached all the way up to the ceiling far above me, which was decorated with a mural of the night sky. There was one of those ladders on a track that you see in books and movies, so you could reach the higher shelves. The bottom shelves were in complete disarray, as if someone had just been shoving books wherever they fit, not caring about whether they could be seen, or whether they were stacked sideways, upside down. But despite this fact, they all seemed to be in fairly good shape. There were soft-looking armchairs and small tables strewn across the room, and all in all, it seemed like the perfect place to curl up in a chair and become lost for hours on end in a fictional adventure. I was pulled from my thoughts by someone saying “Nice, isn’t it?” I turned around, and Summer was there. I could have sworn I was alone before, but she had probably come in through another secret bookshelf-door. “I love this room. I haven't had anyone new to show this to in a long time. This is really exciting, for everyone! We’ve been waiting for you for ages.” She walked over to a bookshelf and did the amulet-book thing on what seemed to be the only 2 upright books on the lower shelves to open another door. “Come on! Everyone’s so excited to meet you.” I supposed that I had to follow her, so I did. The room on the other side of the door was almost identical to the one I had just left, but it was smaller, and had a big table in the middle of it, along with the chairs and smaller tables. Also, there were people in this room. There was a dark haired girl and a brown haired boy sitting in chairs reading, and three other people sitting and standing around the table: a girl who had short brown hair that faded to purple at the ends, and a blonde haired boy and a red haired girl who seemed to be arguing. I wasn’t really sure what to do, but I was saved from having to introduce myself by Summer getting excited and doing it for me. “This is Kami! She’s the newest member of the keepers!” The what?! I thought. The girl with brown-to purple hair looked over, and her eyes lit up. “Really?” She said excitedly. Summer nodded and she turned to look at me. “That is so cool! I’m Amy. nice to meet you!” The other people seemed to just notice I was there, and started coming over to introduce themselves. “I’m Kyle.” said the blond haired boy. “Ashlyn. But you can call me Ash.” stated the black haired girl, not looking up from her book. “Stacy.” Grumbled the red haired girl, apparently in a bad mood after her argument with Kyle. Everyone looked over at the boy sitting in a chair, immersed in his book. After a few seconds, he looked up and said “O-oh, I suppose I should introduce myself as well. I’m Amir.” I looked around at everyone, very confused, “Okay, I have several questions. First of all, where the heck are we? Why is there a secret underground library inside a library? What’s the keepers? And who are all of you?” Everyone looked a bit surprised, and they were all looking at me, except Ash, who was looking over at Summer. “Did you tell her anything?” Summer looked a bit uncomfortable. “...no…” She said timidly. Ash sighed, and put her book down. “I’ll try to explain it as short as I can. We were each given a different colored locket from one of our relatives.” I looked around, and sure enough, everyone was wearing different colored lockets. Except Stacy, for some reason, and when I opened my mouth to ask why, Ash said “Wait until the end to ask questions. This may sound weird, but these lockets give us each a different power, even you. We made this group, The Keepers, so we can use our powers to combat people who want to steal them and use them for...unsatisfactory things.” “Like wars.” Kyle said. Ash sighed and continued. “Yes, like wars. We know that there are only seven of these lockets currently in existence, and, until recently, we only had six.” “Then Stacy lost hers.” Kyle muttered. “I didn't lose it! Someone stole it!” Stacy said in retaliation. “Sure…” Kyle said sarcastically, as Stacy gave him a withering glare. “Whatever happened, it's gone now. There isn't much else we can do but look for it.” Ash said exasperatedly. Kyle looked like he was about to say something, but Ash held her finger up and said “End of conversation for now.” I was so confused. “Wait, what do you mean, ‘powers’?” I asked. “Magic isn’t real.”
“That’s debatable, whether it’s magic or science, but I think that magic is just science waiting to be discovered and explained, and science is magic explained, so I suppose it’s a little of both.” Summer responded. That didn't help. “You still look confused,” Amy said. “Maybe seeing it for yourself will help you believe it.” See what? I thought. There’s nothing to see… “Just wait.” Kyle said to me. Wait, did I say that out loud? I dont think I did… Anyways, what am I waiting for? Amy looked over at me and said “You watching?” I nodded, and watched in awe as she started floating a few feet above the ground. She hovered there for a few seconds, then touched back down. I was speechless. After a few seconds, I said, “This has to be a dream, right? This is way too crazy to be real.” “Oh, It’s real all right.” Kyle said. Why don’t you try using your amulet? It’s purple, right?” “What do you mean, use it?” I asked. “What do I have to do?” “Just close your eyes, and picture an animal. Any animal, preferably not a big one.” What do animals have to do with anything? “You’ll see.” How is he doing that? I thought. Is he reading my mind? He smiled and said “Took you long enough.” “Wait, so you can read my mind?” “Yes, stop changing the subject. Close your eyes and think of an animal.” I closed my eyes and thought about my dog, Kingsley. My locket felt warm, but I kept my eyes closed and focused. My whole body began to feel all tingly and weird, like how your leg feels when it falls asleep, except all over me. I felt like I was falling, then being squeezed through a tube. Then, it all stopped. I opened my eyes and looked around. Ash, Kyle, Amir, Amy, Stacy, and Summer all looked down at me. Ash looked impressed, Kyle looked smug, Amir looked curious, Amy looked excited, Stacy looked grumpy, and Summer looked proud. Wait, why am I so short all of the sudden? “You turned into a dog, thats why.” Kyle said. I’m a what?! I looked down, and sure enough, instead of hands, I saw black puppy paws. I tried to say ‘How do I turn back?’, but it just came out in barks. “Just focus on your original body,” Amir said. “That should work.” I tried to not think about the fact that I was a friggin dog, and try to get myself back to normal. I closed my eyes and focused on myself. I felt the tingling sensation again, and this time it felt like I was flying upward quickly, and like I was being stretched. I opened my eyes, and I was my normal height again. I looked down at my hands, and they were normal again, too. “...What was that?!” I said, after a few moments. “What do you think it was?” Kyle said. “You used your amulet’s power. You managed it much faster than I thought you'd be able to, as well. Impressive.” “How can you just act like nothing happened?! I turned into a freaking DOG! This is a dream, right? It has to be…” I looked around the room. They all looked at me like I was crazy, except for Ash and Summer. Also Amir, but he had gone back to his book and wasn't paying attention. Ash looked around at the other’s faces, and said “Oh, don't pretend you all didn't act the same when you found out. Stop looking at her like she’s some freak.” She then turned to me and said. “Don't pay attention to them. They can be kinda insensitive at times.” “I am not!” Kyle protested, but was quickly silenced by a withering glare from Summer. “...Most of the time…” He muttered.
