You dig me?” Hazel Grace shook her head slightly. Even though they were dating, Gus took every chance to flirt with her. When she asked him what it was about, he had replied, “To keep it all fresh, m’lady.” The girl exhaled through her nose. “I do, captain. I dig you.” Gus, as predicted, lit up. “Aha! Will you go on a date with me, Hazel Grace Lancaster?” Hazel turned her head, the grass bending, but not damaged. The stalks tickled the side of her cheek, as she said, “Aren’t we technically on a date right now?” Gus pushed his lips to the side. “I guess? I suppose that’s a fifth date, then.” Hazel smiled, as she rolled her whole body to the side. She fiddled with her cannula a bit before budging Philip to the right, making room for air-flow. Gus smiled at the sky before returning Hazel’s actions. He mumbled under his breath as he fiddled with his prosthetic leg. “Old Prosty,” He muttered. “Never works with me.” He looked up. “Say, Hazel Grace, why did you refuse to let me escort you?” Hazel sighed. “Well, Captain,” She began with the same intent as Augustus, “Your friend Prosty seems to enjoy creating woe for me.” The pair laughed at the terrible joke. Hazel Grace smiled. She felt full.
