They work tirelessly to change the laws of light and time. This will cause devastation to the whole planet, and some scientists believe it may threaten the universe. ❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖ STORY: "Agent #407, are you there? Out." "Yes. Entering enemy base. Can’t talk more. Out." The silence over the walkie-talkie was deafening. Even more so than the music blasting from the ''trees.'' She also had to adjust to the bright, neon colors. She hated assignments like this, with the looming threat of a sensory overload. This was the fourth assignment working for Clara Lumdadi, the crime-fighting organisation. Agent #407, or Lily, was slightly nervous. The mission had been attempted before – and failed. Not even by new agents, it was failed by one of the senior members of C.L. Trying to ignore the unhelpful truth, Lily pursued through the overgrowth of neon poles. Part of Ilhux’s “aesthetic” was having hundreds of neon green poles covered in leaves and foliage on every surrounding island. And blasting heavy metal from each pole. “Surely this is the universe trying to tell me something,” Lily thought to herself. “Why else would there be the two things I hate most in the enemy base?” Sighing, she pursued through the artificial forest. Metal poles, no matter how many leaves cover them, will always be metal poles. Approaching the edge of the island, Lily hesitated. When she went on the unstable, thin bridge, the timer will start. 30 minutes. On the clock. Don't get noticed, don't raise suspicion. Just a quick in and out, quickly and efficiently deactivating the monster of a machine that could possibly destroy the universe. No pressure. As if on cue, her walkie talkie beeped again. "I'm at the edge of the bridge, out." Her supervisor sounded impressed. "Ahead of schedule, it seems. You can take a breather as we go over the plan. Out." "Yes. Enter, shut it down, run out. Out." "Thank you. You can get going when you're ready. Good luck. Out." Breathe in. Breathe out. Wait for the signal. Another breath. And anoth- Run. Don't look down. Don't look left or right. Look forward, focus on the destination. Put all your energy into getting over the bridge in a seven-minute sprint. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe. Not much left. About half a kilometre, probably. Easy three-minute run. Don't. Loose. Hope. As her foot hits the neon green grass, she realises how big the factory is. ❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖❖ TRIVIA Ilhux is a combination of the Latin words “no” and “light”.
