Over the past months hundreds of thousands of people across the United States and around the world have marched in protest of police brutality against Black people and to firmly and unequivocally state that Black Lives Matter. I wholeheartedly stand in solidarity with these protestors. Black lives matter. They should be valued, uplifted, and celebrated. The struggles, injustices, and adversity Black people have faced in this country is truly horrible and it is heartbreaking how deeply routed racism is within our society. It must end. As a white person I know I can never truly understand the struggles Black people have gone through but I can listen to their stories, I can take it upon myself to educate myself, I can be an ally that stands against injustices and takes action, and I can be there to lift up Black voices and show up in difficult situations today, tomorrow, and everyday after that. I am constantly inspired by the Scratch Community and how much love, creativity, and care go into the creation of Scratch projects and interactions with others. We can all make a difference by standing up for and alongside each other. Black voices matter. Black feelings matter. Black lives matter! <3 Music: Glory- John Legend ft. Common
All art coding and music credits to @ceebee Black Lives Matter, and I believe that it's wrong for people to discriminate against anybody because of how they look, and I say that you are awesome and amazing no matter what you or anyone else looks like. My grandparents don't support BLM because they say all lives matter but I keep trying to tell them that while Yes all lives matter, black lives aren't treated like they also matter. If I was allowed to I would protest peacefully but I cant. Many people died now and in the past, where killed for being black or LGBTQ and I think that's ridiculous that people discriminate because of what we look like or believe in. I don't know the struggles black people go through for I am white, but I know how it feels to be hated for who you are as a LGBTQ member and a Female. People are hated for what they believe in, what they look like, and who they love and it's terrible. This earth is crumbling at out feet from pollution not just in the air, but pollution from people's words. Opinions are important that's what makes us different, what makes us human but that doesn't mean you should hate others for being different cause everyone is different no matter what. So with that being said, Black Lives Matter - Abby <3 2020 brought many things to light- the need to share resources and give to the community, the support small businesses needed to keep going, how technology can be used for good as we used programs such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams to spite COVID-19 and keep non-essential businesses and schools going. But May 25, 2020, a new issue with modern society was spotlighted by the death of the man George Floyd- Racial injustice. Injustice has been a part of society forever. Tensions between opposing religions led to the European Crusades during the Middle Ages. People find themselves held at icy distances by their families because of their sexual orientation. And a more commonly known one… Before American Colonies even became cities, there was anger and hatred towards African Americans. The dissolution of slave labor in 1865,the end of segregation in the 1960’s, and the election of America’s first dark-skinned leader were milestones for the African-American community. But there’s still some racial injustice in this world, even with these milestones. That’s why the Black Lives Matter movement began. And that’s why I support it. -Peeg
