As a white person, one would think I don't know racism. In honest truth, I don't really. But I've felt it in small ways, not as much as others, but still. Sometimes I feel angry that in all of those American shows they always say stupid things about Irish, how we're all 'drunk' and we eat potatoes and we look like leprechauns. They say it and then there's that auto-generated laugh, as if it's hilarious. It's not. When I say one of my parents is from Africa everyone always stares at me, as if I'm different. Even the teachers. They go like '' reeaaaalllyyyy? " in a slow voice. I've seen kids being racist unintentionally not towards me, pulling their eyes and making weird voices pretending their from Pakistan, which makes no sense. They act is if people aren't normal if they're not Irish. So what can you do? The most important thing you can do to help is to not make fun of others, even if you don't mean to. Be careful how you react when you hear a word like Ireland or Irish, picture something different, not the stereotypical image. Byee, Gummy xx
