Eclipse | A Space Adventure | Created by @DewMcStew A lone astronaut gets stranded on the dark side of a distant planet. Can he escape? This game is not finished. --Directions (read them all)-- -Play ADVENTURE mode first! And play til the end! It is the best mode and contains a lot of the game's story. Endless mode is an arcade-style mode for when you've beaten the game. --Controls and more-- -PLAY WITH SOUND ON! The game is so much better with sounds and music. And some game elements are easier to understand with sound. -Z to advance dialogue and it also functions as the 'select' button. You navigate the menu with it. -X is basically the 'start' button -Use the arrow keys to move the spaceship around -Space to shoot when the lasers are functioning -You can only move up and down. VERY IMPORTANT! -In adventure mode, watch until the end of the credits. You might find something there... --Enemies-- -Gray asteroid: the most common asteroid. They just fly through the screen moving randomly. Stay out of their way. Faster than other asteroids. -Orange asteroid: a fiery asteroid. It doesn't do more damage, it's just orang-ier. how great is that! they fly straight at you and don't move up or down, so they're pretty easy to avoid. -Blue asteroid: you guessed it, an icy asteroid. They point toward you, but once they lock on their target, they just keep going there, even if you've moved. use that to your advantage. and practice. a lot. -Green spaceship: (that looks like you) whee, the color effect! plot twist: they are your father. (not really.) they shoot lasers at you. those lasers hurt, they take two lives. avoid. -Bigger green spaceship: these ones launch bombs, which have projectiles to get hit with. don't get hit with those, they hurt. -Biggest green spaceship: woah, big. they do tons of damage, that's all i'll say. stay out of the way :) -And then there's the boss. B) figure that one out yourself. -Please note: This game uses the 'username' block to insert your username into dialogue. It does not, however, record who uses the project, and therefore I cannot see who played this game. -Another note: This isn't a platformer.
Since I haven't shared any projects this year and am unlikely to do so, I'll share what's available of this to at least have been active this year. I want to finish this someday, but at this point it's not very likely as my interests have really shifted from Scratch and programming in general. This might be the last real project I share for a long time This was my attempt at a game that really showcased every facet of what I'm capable of on Scratch. Art, gameplay, sound design, music, everything. If it is even completed it will probably still fall short of that goal, but we'll see. Please read all the credits! There's some cool stuff here (except some of its not even in the game yet) --Programming-- Written by me except for the text engine. Pen text engine (dialogue) by @theChAOTiC --Art-- All sprites created by me in pixilart.com. The letters for the dialogue were designed by @theChAOTiC with pen. --Music-- It Was A Dark and Stormy Night (Mushroom Kingdom Remix) - Five Iron Frenzy Irides of M (Hidden Track) - brave Saint Saturn Titan - brave Saint Saturn The Sun Also Rises - brave Saint Saturn --Sounds-- All non-music sounds in the game were created in leshylab's sound effect maker: https://www.leshylabs.com/apps/sfMaker/ --Other-- Beta tested by @BirbStar and @Benjojo7 via turbowarp.org This took about 20 hours of coding so far, plus art and sound design Some gameplay elements inspired by an old NES game I have called Air Fortress (let me know if you've heard of it) Art style inspired by various old videogames Made in Scratch 3.0 Thanks for playing
