SETUP FOR DATA TAKING *It would be nice if you get some paper and a pencil so you can record your data. ( if you want ) There is a picture that shows what your table should look look like, but don't write down the numbers next to sec., because you will be putting your own numbers. You will be trying to find out which number of clones takes the longest and shortest time, 10, 100, or 250. (Predict) (Also, press yes to start the sim) Also, if you are taking data, put no for immuntity ABOUT THE SIM Now, our project is a simulation that simulates the spread of a communicable disease. When you press the green flag, there should be a question asking you how many agents (clones) you want to be in the simulation. (Before that you say that you want either yes or no immuntity, and then you put yes for the table) After you answer with a number, the sim will start, with one ball infected and the rest healthy. They will move around, and when an infected ball hits a healthy ball, the healthy ball which was previously blue will become red, or infected. Also, after 10 seconds, red balls will turn purple, meaning they are immune. TAKING AND ANALYZING DATA If you are taking data, set the number of clones to 10, wait until everyone is infected, and then put the number of days (seconds) it took, (in the part for trial 1, under 10 clones) Then, do it make 10 clones again and take your data in trial 2, still under 10 clones. Do it one more time, but record data in Trial 3 under 10 clones, and then calculate the average/mean. (add all numbers, then divide by 3) When you get your average, put the average where the average part is, under 10 clones. Then, you will take 3 more trials, but set the clones to 100, and calculate that average. Do the same for 250 clones, and then compare every average, and you should be able to answer the question, (which amount of clones takes the longest and shortest amount of time) *Instructions still in development
i recommend turbo mode (shift key +press flag) Each second in the sim is technically a day. It will ask if your data table looks like the picture, and if you are just messing around, or taking data, type yes. If you put something else, everything will just stop, and you can look at the pic before starting the project again. the immune is being weird, and it sometimes wont work right, and im trying to fix it, but the sim without immune should work PLTW Red=Infected Blue=Susceptible/Healthy Purple=Immune Btw, the sim is quite laggy, and it won't start the timer or have the already infected ball turn the others infected until each clone is made.
