character design and original art by @fiiinch! critique, redlining, and redraw by me (@ladyscientist). 1. the original art. this character design is great! usually when i see people working in the scratch editor at this level, they don't have much understanding of color theory, but i can tell that you do- the design looks great and the pastels work really well. the first thing i noticed about the art style is that it's actually quite similar to my old style! the body, eyes, nose, mouth, and legs all remind me quite a bit of how i used to draw! 2. a quick redline. the first thing i noticed about this art is that the top of the ear is perfectly in line with the outline of the head. this flattens the art and makes the outline obvious that it's based on a circle. to break this up, i've moved the ear into another shape, giving it volume and shape. another thing i noticed was the inconsistent foot shape and placement. in perspective, the near legs should be lower that the farther legs. i've sketched in the joints, and added a bend to the rear legs. finally, i gave the tail a bit of a cleaner shape. 3. a full redraw of the piece. i gave the feet a slight shape to them, adding the appearance of having mass atop them, and tried to imitate the lining style. i hope this guide was helpful, and that it shows you what your style could be!
