This is him. Marinette’s mind chanted loudly and she smiled nervously at Chat Noir. “H-hey!” She stuttered, her fingers twisting. Chat Noir gave her a similar tentative smile and replied, “Hi! I’m A-” he cut himself off for a moment, then continued, “I’m Chat Noir.” He stuck out his hand, “Nice to meet you!” Marinette nodded, “I-I’m Ladybug, pleased to meet y-you,” all too late, she realized that she should’ve shook his hand and she fumbled to do so. “S-sorry!” She said, embarrassed and tucked a strand of her raven black hair behind her ear. Arghhhh. WHY did I COMPLETELY FORGET to shake his hand? I’m seriously an idiot! Marinette thought, inwardly cringing at her poor manners as Chat smiled and said, “It’s alright!” They both blinked at each other for a moment, not knowing what to say when Nino said, “Well, looks like you dudes will be okay!” They both jumped, forgetting he was there and Nino continued, “I’ll see you both later after your part!” Nino passed Marinette and winked, whispering to her, “It’ll be FINEEEE, chill a little dude - ahm I mean - Ladybug!” She gave him a nervous nod and sat down across from Chat, trying to think of something to start a conversation instead of them both sitting there awkwardly. He started first. “Uh so hi! It’s my first time here - how bout you?” Marinette replied nervously, “well, I’ve been participating and performing at Keys to Music for a little over a year. My best friend suggested it to me and I checked it out eventually!” Chat Noir smiled and said, “Cool! Nino told me about it a couple weeks ago and it sounded really fun! Though I had to convince my father to let me go. I’m very excited though! It’s my first time in YEARS that I’ve been in the outside world - not just locked up in my house with my dad and his assistant and my cat.” Starting to relax a little, Marinette responded, smoothing down the ruffles on her dress. “Wow, that’s so nice of Nino! And kind of cruel that you’ve been stuck inside of your house for so long! What kind of parent does that to their kid?” Pausing, Marinette realized that that had maybe sounded a little rude and she fumbled over her words, “i-i mean i didn’t- i just, s-sorry!” Chat smiled a little sadly and said, “It’s no big deal and I actually agree with you.” He shrugged, “But I guess I'm a special case.” He gave out a little laugh and Marinette felt sorry for him. Then, over the loudspeakers, she heard Nino say, “Thank you everyone!! Now, for our next performance….!!!” He paused, then continued after the crowd had claimed down. “An new pair, the newbie Chat Noir, and the one that everyone here knows...Ladybuggg!!!” The crowd cheered and Marinette smiled again at Chat and said over the noise, “Looks like that’s our cue!” She stood up, fixing herself up one last time, then headed over to the main stage with Chat Noir following her. - DISCLAIMER!!!
