Chinese New Year (also known as the Lunar New Year,) celebrates the start of the new year on the lunisolar traditional Chinese calendar. Every year, the animal that is "featured" changes, but every 12 years it repeats. This year (2021) is the year of the ox. Here are the 12 animals starting with the first: Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Sheep, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig. On Chinese New Year, children receive red envelopes that have money inside and families share large meals.
