CHAPTER 1 Elara's P.O.V. I woke up on the beach with no idea where I was. I blinked, rubbing sand from my eyes. Ow. Everything hurt. As my vision began to clear, I got quite a scare as a girl stuck her nose in my face. Her wavy chocolate brown hair was pulled up in a messy bun, and her piercing gray eyes squinted at me from behind her leopard-print glasses. “Who are you?” I asked warily. Something felt...off. “I think the better question is, who are YOU?” She responded sharply. I stared at her for a few moments before realizing the question was directed at me. I thought for a second. “I’m not sure,” I finally answered. And I was telling the truth. She frowned, and I could tell she didn't believe me. “You know nothing? Not even your name?” She asked suspiciously. “I know my name. But I think that’s it. Now who are you and where am I?” I asked. She pursed her lips, as though suppressing a smile. “Fair enough, I’m Savannah Jones, Daughter of Athena. You are?” “Athena?” I echoed. The name sounded vaguely familiar, though I couldn’t place it. “Greek goddess of wisdom,” Savannah told me, watching intently. “Okay...wait, goddess?” I asked. Something rang a bell. “Yeah. You know what they are right? Also PLEASE tell me your name already,” Savannah interrupted my thoughts. I laughed. “Yeah, for some reason I know what they are. And I’m Elara. But how can you be the daughter of a goddess? No offense, but you look pretty ordinary.” For a second I was afraid she would get mad. Maybe it was because of the short bronze sword at her belt, or the knowing look in her eyes, but this girl scared me. But she just grinned. “It’s fine. And I’m only half-god, and since you made it past the barrier, you must be too!” I stared at her. “Uh...what?” “Okay, so I know this might sound crazy, but the gods are real. This is a camp for their half-mortal children. The twelve major gods are Zeus Hera Athena Apollo Poseidon Ares Artemis Demeter Aphrodite Dionysus Hermes and Hephaestus, but there are a bunch of other minor gods too.” Savannah explained. I felt a flash of fury at the name Poseidon for some reason, but I covered it up with a smile. “I’ll believe you, because I don’t know anything right now.” Just then a new kid came running up. He had strawberry blonde hair and light blue eyes with green flecks. His eyes passed over me and he turned to Savannah. “You found a demigod! Lucky! With the decreasing number of Demigods arriving at camp, Chiron will be very happy!” Savannah glared at the boy. “Quiet Lukas!” He wisley shut up under her glare. “But look what I found!” He said, dangling what looked like a high-tech apple watch. Instinctively I snatched it. “That’s mine!” I snapped. Savannah raised an eyebrow. “What does a Demigod with no memory need a watch for?” She asked. In answer, I turned the knob on the side, and it turned into a full length spear. The wood was like driftwood, but harder, with a tip of something I knew was Celestial Bronze. Don’t ask me why, because I have absolutely no clue. Lukas stared at me for a second. “Come on. We need you for capture the flag,” he said finally. “And I want you on my team.” "And that means the Hermes Cabin is with Athena," Savannah responded. I smiled. "Game on."
