Hello, this is poem 2 of my BLM Selection. The poem is below, this is the artwork I made to go with it. I really want to STRESS the importance of never being scared of showing yourself, and who you are. Don't ever hide your face and lifestyle because of what someone says to you. You are beautiful♡ Poem: She hides her face behind a mask a mask of pain one of regret the shame she holds written on her skin a color reminder of who she is not everyone has to face what she must it's better to hide behind a mask In every photo she ever owned white Crayola shows its mark she doesn't look good with peach on her she doesn't like that brown on her pride or peace shout or shy come or cease live or die what company is her blurred out face her shame her sorrow on her skin that mark that sign of her ancestors why does she want that straight blonde hair when she has such beautiful locks?
Story to the Poem: Kaye is a little girl who's skin is dark, but smile is bright. She faces hardships because of her skin, and even wishes she were white. Sometimes she would take her photos, and she would be so sad that she would color her skin over in Peach Crayola. She was ashamed of who she was, of what people called her. This is a reminder that you are not limited because of your skin color. You are limited by your acceptance of yourself ♡ Comment below what poem I should write about a historical character! I will also most likely do another fictional character, but this one being for the 1960's. if you have art and want a poem to go with it - I'd love to!!!! Just contact me on my profile.
