That oversight is: Scope. Scope is the concept of how big a project can be and how big it should be. In this case, I waaaay overshot on scope, because I am one person and I cannot make a game of the size I wanted this project to be. what you see before you is the work of two years (not years time, mind you, but probably about 100+ hours of work) -------------------What I wanted for this project--------------- ( how long something took to make is listed to the right of the idea. There is an "X" next to all of the things that are unfinished, and thus, I did not list a time for how long it took. ) I wanted a player character that can: - Double Jump, move, wall jump. ( 1 hour ) - Animating the above ( 6 hours ) - Attack in all directions with a sword and shuriken ( 1 hour ) - Animating the above ( 6 hours ) X - Roll - Sound effects for all of the above ( 1 hour ) I wanted levels with-------------------------------- X - A story X - Stealth level, parkour level, and a boss level X - I wanted levels that are extremely decorated, with six layers of parallax backgrounds. ( 24 hours per level ) - Tutorial level ( 24 hours ) X - Original Soundtrack for each level I wanted enemies with------------------- - Intelligent A.I. ( 2 hours ) - A Shriek phase ( 1 hour ) - A running phase ( 1 hour ) - An attack phase ( 1 hour ) - Animating all of the above ( 10 hours ) X - Sounds for all of the above X - Debugging all of the above ( + 9999999 hours ) (Jk, but debugging still takes ages... -.- ) Also, the player alone has like, over 250 costumes, there has to be over 2000 block of code in this project, the player has like, 50 variables, and there are probably over 100 vector shapes in the menu backdrop and tutorial level, so...
