They are related to the tiger salamander. Unlike other amphibians, they do not undergo metamorphosis. They can survive up to 15 years. They eat mollusks, worms, insect larvae, crustaceans, and some fish. They are a popular pet, although it is illegal to own one in some places. They are critically endangered. :(
