Gerald was going to pass the final exam - he needed to perform at his first concert. He was very excited but a bit nervous. And finally, the long-awaited day has come. Gerald was preparing for this event for the last few years: if he would pass this exam well, he would be offered to enter the prestigious music college in a big city. It was a great opportunity and he wanted to take advantage of it. He was very nervous while sitting backstage, but when he went on stage he was absolutely calm! He sat at the piano and closed his eyes. Then he began to play. He didn't notice anyone in the auditorium, nor his parents or brother. He fully focused on the performance and come to himself only after finishing playing. The audience was super excited. Everybody stood up from their chairs and clapped, even the school headmaster! And suddenly, a little girl that was sitting in the first row, went on the stage and gave a bouquet of red carnations to Gerald... He didn't have time to say anything because the girl went down the stage and dissolved in the crowd. Gerald was shocked... He had never received a bouquet from his audience. It was definitely one of the happiest days of his life. Later he was informed that he passed the exam with very high results and that the university would be happy to accept him as a student. Gerald agreed and for the next few months, he was preparing for his move to another city. He understood that he'll miss all these places and people very much, but he also was excited about changes in his life. On the day of farewell, when Gerald was at the railway station, saying goodbye to his family, Lance came to him and said: "I know that this day would come... And I'll miss you a lot but I also know that you are very talented and you must improve and share your talent with others. You have always been my best friend and a huge inspiration to me... And I made a small gift for you... " - and he took out a small package. Gerald opened it. Inside, there was a hand made jacket with a stripe of a red carnation and the same earrings - the symbols of his first public success ant and meant to Gerald a lot. He hugged Lance. "Thank you" - he said - "I'll miss you a lot too. I promise I'll come for my Christmas Holidays. And by the way, how do you know that I always wanted to have a pierced ear?" "We are twins. I know everything about you" and they laughed. Some time had passed since Gerald arrived at college. Now he completely got used to its life and enjoys it a lot. He continues to play the piano, improves his composition skills and he also began to study synthesizer. He often phones his parents and brother, who has recently entered a popular clothes design college. He's also looking forward to his first holidays to meet his family and return to his home. Gerald likes wearing his brother's gift. It always reminds him about Lance, as if they are near. Recently, Gerald had a very interesting acquaintance. They met at the lecture hall. She asked: "Can I sit here?" "Of course" - he answered. "I am always late for lectures" - she said. "Me too. And what's your name?" "Dana. Dana Miller. And your?" " I'm Gerald. Nice to meet you!" "Nice to meet you too!". Since that Dana and Gerald became good friends. They and some other students decided to organize a band when they graduate and now they learning to work together. Gerald leads a saturated life and enjoys doing his favorite things, although he's still like to daydream and fly in the clouds... That's all. Their parents had a small farm and a shop, where Mr. and Mrs. Bart were selling their products. They were kind and honest people and they loved them very much. Despite Gerald and Lance were twins, they were very different. Gerald had fair hair and Lance's hair was much darker. Their tempers were very different too: Gerald was a calm and quiet boy, and Lance was very energetic and was always looking for adventures. They were a perfect team and they complemented each other perfectly. When another crazy idea came to Lance he shared it with his brother and they were making it into life together. Gerald was ready to help his brother at any time and he always relished their adventures. Soon they were known to the whole neighborhood for their mischiefs. Although the complaints of neighbors slightly gloomed their lives, they still had happy and light-hearted childhood. One August there was an event, that affected their lives a lot. Gerald and Lance were at the age of seven then. It was a traditional summer festival, in which all locals participated. There were many events at the festival and a small music concert completed it. Gerald withdrew into himself and didn't pay any attention to the singers and even the dance ensemble. The last participant in the concert was a famous pianist that was on a concert tour in this city. Gerald didn't pay any attention to him while he was going on stage and settling down at the piano. But when he started to play Gerald looked at him with all eyes: he was amazed by all those sounds and chords that seemed to come from another world. When the pianist finished playing, Gerald was sure: he wanted to play the piano too. He knew he would study as hard as he could to learn how to play the piano like that. When the concert was finished, and Gerald was going home with his family, he asked Lance: "Have you heard that music? It was truly amazing!" "Yeah, but I think it was too long. But I must admit that he had a very stylish suit!". After that concert, Gerald asked his parents to go to the music school so he could learn to play the piano there. Parents didn't mind about that and in Autumn Gerald started to study at the local music school. And in the Spring of the same year, on his birthday Gerald got an enormous present he wanted a lot: his parents got a piano for him, so he could practice at home too. Gerald was so happy and excited that he was playing for the whole day! When he finally finished, Lance said: "I don't understand music too much, but I think that it sounds not bad!". And what's for Gerald's parents, they didn't understand music too, but they were very proud of their son and encouraged his study zeal. And not only they: his music school teachers were saying that he was learning everything very fast and that he had made huge progress. After a few years, Gerald had improved his skills a lot. He was one of the best students in the music school and he enjoyed playing the piano a lot. Anything didn't matter to him when he was playing. He tried to fully concentrate on music and its mood. He also tried to make his own songs and it turned out pretty well. Gerald was planning to enter the music college. And what's for Lance, he had a favorite hobby too: he began to go in for the clothes design. Nobody has ever expected such a decision from him, and his parents were in surprise.
