ok, here's my little rant + some resources and information! __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ __ first, we'll start off with BLM and ways to support. First of all, it's not enough to just say BLM. Instead of just saying it, take action! Educate yourself and others on why it is so important. Sign petitions and donate if you can. Support a Black owned business and make your own project about BLM! It's not enough to just not be racist- we have to be anti-racist. Keep learning all that you can to support the movement. As someone who is white, I know that I will never feel the struggles that people of color face every day, but I will support them all I can as an ally. I will educate myself, others, and hear their voices. Below, in the Notes/Credits Section, I have linked some resources (studios, projects, websites, petitions, etc.) to educate and raise awareness for the movement. Please take the time to help all you can and to educate yourself and others. We can NOT stop even when BLM is no longer "trending!" *NOTE: DO NOT donate to change.org! Despite their name, none of the funds from their petitions go to the cause- change.org takes the money and doesn't actually give it to the organizations! Okay, now on to Black History Month and how we can celebrate! __ __ __ __ __ __ Black History Month was created in 1976 to celebrate and honor Black History. It started in the U.S, but is now celebrated world-wide! There are so many things we can do to recognize Black History Month. In Scratch, you can create a project honoring Black History. Outside of Scratch, there are so many things you can do, too! You can read and learn about the civil rights movement and educate yourself on the history of it. Below the BLM resources, I included some Scratch projects and studios honoring Black History Month.
