This simulates the day and night cycles of Earth. It is accurate in that the Sun rises in the east and sets in the west.

I wanted to make an outer-space themed project, and I had the idea to make a light simulator. At first, I didn't know how. But it was actually quite simple. Some think that this portrays the Sun orbiting the Earth. That is not what this is trying to illustrate. The perspective of this art can be likened to a 3D camera forced to always view the same side of the earth while it is spinning.
