The setting sun peaked out from the ocean horizon, just barely illuminating the dark sky. Out far, there was an island, just in his sight. "I'm finally home" he sighed, setting his blade into it's sleeve on his waist. ~~~ Two boys paraded around the street, their feet kicking up dust as they ran. "Virgil, Bram, slow down!" Their mother called from behind them, but the two young boys were too busy laughing and sprinting on the streets of their homeland. A small island, but home to many rabbits. It was a maritime styled culture, so unlike most rabbits, they ended up eating fish and shellfish most of the time, and occasionally the island's fruit. The two boys lost sight of their mother, still giggling, and perched on a seacliff. "Hey Virgil, just know that I'll never leave your side! I'll be your friend forever!" Bram assured him, and Virgil nodded, and they laughed. ~~~ The seashore was empty as Virgil docked. Nothing roamed the shoreline. "They must all be asleep or indoors. Or maybe closer to the mainland." Virgil assured himself, his brother's words echoing in his mind. As he left his ship and stalked over to the heart, splinters of wood lay on the earth. There was nothing, except for debris, and a few belongings. Virgil picked up a piece of wood, and picked up a broken frame, wiping it off with a tear in his eye.
