This is cloning. It's typically used for particles like snow and dust and stuff. However, it can also be used for other things. This only talks about the particles though. Basically, you have one small sprite with a particle look of your choice. Here you can see that I have a single cube particle. This particle is hidden but cloned at random every few seconds. The clones, when created, show themselves, point a random direction, and move at a set speed. It's relatively simple. but can set the scene for quite a few different types of things. An underground platformer? Rocks and rubble it is. A summer themed art dump? Pollen would work. It's versatile, easy to program, and nice looking. And there you have it! Thanks for reading HOW TO: Particle Cloning.
