---------------------------------▣------------------------------------- Let's get this project featured!!!!!! ---------------------------------▣------------------------------------- . Instructions The slide/sprite changes every five seconds(or less). ---------------------------------▣------------------------------------- Information Ma’at-ka-Ra Hatshepsut was the second historically confirmed female Pharaoh after her ancestor, Soberkeonu. Hatshepsut was more than qualified to be a pharaoh, yet she was overlooked just because she was a woman. After all that she did, when she died, almost all traces of her reign were erased. Then how was she found, you ask? The British archaeologist Howard Carter discovered Hatshepsut's tomb while excavating at the Valley of the Kings in 1902. Hatshepsut's story only exemplifies the challenges women in leadership have faced since the dawn of time. Our contributions are belittled, no matter how great they were such as in her case. At no point was Egypt as wealthy and peaceful as during her reign, yet it was not until 350 years later that the world was to hear of her powerful rule. ---------------------------------▣------------------------------------- . Script I am Ma’at-ka-Ra Hatshepsut. Queen♛ and Pharaoh of Egypt. Ma’at-ka-Ra means Truth, Order, and Balance. Hatshepsut means ‘Foremost of Noble Women’. I was born in 1507 BC. I was the elder of two daughters born to Thutmose I and his queen, Ahmose. I became queen of Egypt at 12 years old when I married my younger half-brother Thutmose II. Thutmose II died young, and the throne went to his infant son, Thutmose III. According to custom, because I was a woman and could not be Pharaoh, I began acting as Thutmose III’s regent, handling affairs of state until my stepson came of age. ·After less than seven years, however, I took the unprecedented step of assuming the title and full powers of a pharaoh myself, as directed by the king of the gods, Amun-Ra becoming co-ruler of Egypt with Thutmose III. As pharaoh, I undertook ambitious building projects, mainly in the area of Thebes. My greatest achievement was the huge memorial temple at Deir el-Bahri, considered one of the architectural wonders of ancient Egypt. Another great achievement of my reign was a trading expedition I authorized that brought back vast riches–including ivory, ebony, gold, leopard skins, and incense–to Egypt from a distant land known as Punt (possibly modern-day Eritrea). After my death, Thutmose III had almost all of the evidence of my reign–including the images of me as Pharaoh on the temples and monuments I had built–erased, possibly to erase my example as a powerful female ruler, or to close the gap in the dynasty’s line of male succession. I was one of the greatest female pharaohs of all time. ---------------------------------▣------------------------------------- ꧁༺ Coming up❤ ༻꧂ Since not much is known about Soberkeonu, the first historically confirmed female pharaoh, I'll be making a project on her too, so watch out! ༻꧂ ---------- -----------------------▣------------------------------------- My other official projects --------------------------------▣------------------------------------- The End
