The variable is just the med kit timer. How it worked: I was walking at Stark Industries. I saw Iron Man I was at 86 health so if he hit me i would die. So i started using the med kit. The Unibeam hit me and I saw my health start to go down. How I saw this was, when you get hit your health doesn't just instantly go down, it drains. So the Unibeam hit me and my health started going down but then the Medkit gave me my health so I went down to 10 HP. The timing was frame PERFECT. If I had started just a millisecond later I would be a red stain. Too bad I wasn't recording. BTW I recently got a 30 kill squads win.
