Spoilers for The Dangerous Gift and other recent Wings of Fire books (Dragonslayer, Poison Jungle, etc). Ok so wow. This book was a lot to digest. Wren and Sky show up, Pantalan dragons show up, new aspects of Animus magic (Which might be gone for good?), Royal IceWings being surprisingly cute, more stuff about the Breath of Evil, the makings of a Human-Dragon truce, the entire stealth mission to Pantala, Queen Snowfall destroying the Great Ice Wall and the Gift of Order, a backstory for Jerboa, you get it, this book was big. And that's not to mention the cute stuff, like Sky, Mink, the adorable hybrid dragonets, and all the funny lines. This book was absolutely amazing. The magic ring that Snowfall wore was really cool and interesting and I want one. Plus all the other cool Animus touched things. The IceWing crown making the queen hate NightWings was really interesting and provides some context for just how many things might have been enchanted by Queen Diamond. And can I mention how amazing the ring was again? My favorite scene with it was the part where they compared Snowfall and Wasp. And the whole thing going on with the Humans and the Breath of Evil is really weird. And also Jerboa backstory. It really makes you think. Jerboa I started out decent, but quickly got worse and worse. And Jerboa II (technically Jerboa III) did some stuff that was a little messed up, but her mother was also horrible to her and all the dragons she kidnapped. So now the question is less of "Is Jerboa evil?" and more "Was Jerboa in the wrong about this one thing?". I don't think anybody was shocked that Jerboa broke animus magic, but it was still a cool twist. AND ALL THE CUTENESS AND SKY THINKS NOBODY WOULD BE EVIL IF THEY KNEW ABOUT PANDAS, I CAN'T TAKE THE CUTE. If I had one complaint, it would be there is not enough Bumblebee or Cricket. Goodbye.
