I could consider Draco to be misunderstood but not exactly in the same way that other people do. I think he's misunderstood by the fandom as someone who was misunderstood. People think he was just a good guy only acting the way he did because he was forced by his father, but that's not true. People think he's just some poor, misunderstood, baby who never had a choice, but that's not true. Draco did have a choice, and he did choose to be a bully. His father didn't force him (nor abuse him). He chose to become a Death Eater. He made his own bad choices and got himself into the circumstances he was in. There were some things he didn't have any control over, like how he was raised, and while he wasn't abused, he still wasn't exactly taught right from wrong. He didn't really have control over the circumstances that led him to becoming a Death Eater or what he went through as one, but he still chose to be a Death Eater, himself. He made a lot of bad decisions, but he made some good ones, too. People shouldn't blame all the bad things he did on his father, because then who would take credit for the few good things he did? People who love Draco should love him for the character he truly is, and he really isn't a very good person. I think too many people think that a character has to be a good person to be a good character, so that's why they try to make Draco better than he really is, but he doesn't have to be that way. He can be appreciated as a well-written character who isn't a very great person, but people misunderstand him and think that he NEEDS to be good. That's how he's misunderstood.
