uh theres a lot of lore i made just for them so ill try to put it all in here: CW// long wall of text when,, kids r born,,, theyre either chosen to grow up to be a leader, or theyre chosen to be led. those who are chosen to be leaders have more power over others. the leaders are considered a higher class than those who are led. theyre sorted into categories at age 7, simply so that the kids dont question what's going on. its simpler for the almighty to sort them. theyre sorted based on their behavior. if they show signs of good leadership and fair teamwork theyre chosen to be leaders. however, if they show signs of poor teamwork and bad leadership skills, theyre chosen to be led. the leaders are usually 12-15 years old at the start, and theyre meant to help the led grow up to be leaders when they die, most of them die of some type of m/rder. the leaders are never supposed to let the led out of their sight, though some leaders are irresponsible and the led get themselves into trouble, and inevitably either get themselves killed or taken from their leaders and assigned to a different leader the led arent supposed to get attached to their leaders as most of them die within the led's lifetime and its scarring for them. so its like,, a rule to not get attached to the leaders. they had the thought that 'oh if they dont get attached it wont hurt as bad when their leaders die', but a lot of them get attached and build friendships anyway lol theyre not meant to be friends. the leaders are strictly meant to help them learn good leadership and learn how to behave correctly. if theyre caught making friends with the led, the leaders will be taken from the led and either paired with a new one or ultimately punished the punishment differs in intensity based on how far the friendship was. if the friendship just started, theyre just told they cant lead anymore, unless they gain the almighty's trust back, in which case they're allowed to lead again, but are monitored closely for awhile. however, if the friendship had been going on for awhile in secret, the punishments range from being permanently stripped of their leader role and are forced to be led instead, to execution. sometimes, the led will grow into their leaders' face. meaning, they grow like their leaders did. for example,, if the led had no wings prior to being led, but they start growing wings after being assigned to their leader, it means that the leader is doing their job EXTREMELY well, which is the reason that this is so rare to see, as most leaders are only good and not excellent. in very, VERY rare cases, if the leader's gender is the opposite of the led's gender, the led's gender will shift. it happens slowly, but it HAS happened, though few people live to tell about it. when this happens, the leader is so skilled at leading that they are often asked to be a member of the almighty leaders, who are in charge of sorting, punishment and assignment to leaders. members of the almighty are protected very well, and are worshipped. some love the idea of this, others fear being constantly protected and worshipped by the lower classes. even though most kids are stripped of their biological names when theyre sorted into leader or led, the leaders often give them simple nicknames to keep track of them, especially those who lead more than one child. some people dont agree with the whole sorting into two different groups thing, but most people just go 'meh, minority' and keep doing it, not listening to the pleads of those who see it as inhuman and toxic. there have been a few riots and protests to try to get it to stop, but they all failed and therefore had no effect on the way things were carried out. lore!!!! :]
