1975 was destructive, devastating, and catastrophic. An active NIO, an unusual storm in the EPAC, and the Atlantic's Eloise. However, by far the worst storm of them all was Typhoon Nina within the Western Pacific which killed over 229,000 people through its passage. It is the deadliest Pacific typhoon on record and the fourth-deadliest tropical cyclone on record, bar none. It is one of the most catastrophic examples of what a dam failure can bring. For whatever reason, Nina was not retired even despite this death total, and would be used until 1995. Then PAGASA started using Nina, but that got retired after Nock-ten's passage in 2016. Even so, Nina is finally stricken and never to be used again, I would hope.
