☞ Hey guys! I thought maybe some of you might want to see my process of making art, so I made a process project for you! :D click to zoom, space to go through the slides! *Note that I am in no way a professional. I am a self-taught hobbyist, and this is just my way of doing things. You are free to use this tutorial as an inspiration, but remember that I do not do this for a living (besides drawing every day of my life lmaO)!! Also, turn up your volume B)) this song is a bop __________ ➊ - First, I always draw a circle, a guideline for the head. This helps for dimension and so I don’t make my head too big or too small. ➋ - Second, I draw the neck and other body parts. I know that the anatomy looks very off in this, I usually only focus on that in the lineart. The criss-crossed lines in the circle help me to point out where the middle of her face is going to be :D ➌ - Next I added the eyes + facial features and other body parts, along with the hair that makes Kora stand out :3 I focus on my pose and expression in this stage, though I try not to make the lines too dark (unless it’s the eyes. I always end up over-lining the eyes lmao) ➍ - I then adjust the size of the sketch, just so that when I’m doing my lineart I don’t have to stretch in out. ➎ - Then I lower the opacity of the sketch so I can draw more easily over it :0 remember to do this in a separate layer haha, don’t want to do in this one ➏ - Lineart!! I usually end up making the face a lot different from the sketch, but that’s what I was going for >:) you can get a lot of expression in the lineart and that’s what I like to focus on! ➐ - Color—notice that I used a ref for this! I like to color-pick the colors for my characters when I’m not making designs, just so I don’t get it wrong ^^; the ref for Kora can be found inside the project! ➑ - I added Kora’s accessories (which can also be found on her ref), and the shine in her eyes ;D I usually only do two little dots of light in my characters’ eyes, just so I don’t overdue it and hide the color. I use the luminance pen and the iris color of the eye to do this :0 It’s also important to keep your coloring lines straight and not wobbly when you aren’t doing a fur-effect, just because I’m a perfectionist like that lmao ➒ - Shading!! I start with black and color it differently depending on the setting, so this is just the lining part :00 I chose the left side to be the shadow, probably should have drawn a sun but most of the time I just wing it- ➓ - I lowered the opacity on the shading just to see how dark it should look. ➊➊ - I then blur the shading to give it a more natural feel, and have it look as realistic as possible >:D I also put the shading layer below the shining layer (observe: the earrings, the eyes), just because it makes the shining pop more! ➊➋ - oOOoOOoh lightingggg~ this is the lining part again, I chose the right side! I start with a basic dark-yellow and, again, change the color according to the setting!! I try to do the squiggly lines on the hair so that it looks like it’s bouncing off the strands :] ➊➌ - I put the lighting on add, EVERY TIME, because it looks realistic. It literally works for every color lol ➊➍ - Blurring~~~ makes it look even more realistic ;0 I always use Gaussian blur for this ➊➎ - Lower the opacity!! This setting doesn’t have very harsh lighting, so I put it lower than compared to outside ;) ➊➏ - I grab a background from Google, of like a pink sunset thingie, and I blur it with Gaussian. With this, I colorpick and change the shading to dark and light pink :D see if you can notice haha ➊➐ - I use half-tone on the background to make it look retro, and then I blur it a little more >:0 ➊➑ - I add an overlay layer of hot pink and set it to Linear Burn, to make everything look more moody. Lastly, I add my signature, and there! That’s the full piece! :D ☞ I hope you guys like my process <33 if you have any tips to make my art better then just lmk!
