Heyo! Welcome to term 1 lesson 2! Today we are learning how to draw a toony animal headshot! Unfortunetly most of you didnt complete your homework for lesson 1. Since it was our first lesson of this season i didnt give out penalty points. But this week there won't be any ecxeptions so please Remeber to complete your homework before next sunday. Okay here are the steps! : 1. Start with a circle as allways 2. Add a head fluff. 2 large tuffs should be enough but if your charcter is fluffier or has a short coat you can add more or less, bigger or smaller. 3. The top of the snout. Try and find a Flow from the tuffs of fur. 4. Bottom of the jaw and cheek fluff. The reason these are in the same step is beacuse you kinda have to do them in the same stroke. Make sure to add a dip in the mouth. 5. Ears. Add a triangle but make sure they are not too big or too small unless thats in your characters design. 6. Inside of the ears. Draw a line to show where the inside is, then a little tuff of fur. 7. Mark out where the top and bottom of the eye will be with 2 lines. 8. Draw eyes. (and eyebrows (I didnt draw eyebrows beacuse I want you to figure out how they should look based off the expression (look up references if needed (gosh this is alot of brackets)))) draw them how ever you like but if you are having trouble I have showed you how to draw eyes like I do. 9. Make an upsidedown triangle for the chest 10. Make two lines to conect the head and chest. 11. Draw the rest of the body and add some tuffs of fur. Once again the amount and length will depend on the charcter. 12. Add any accesories or markings to make the character your own. 13. Lines, just trace over the sketch and clean it up a bit. 14. Earase the sketch or hide the layer. 15. Colour it in. Choose the colours you use. 16. Shade. Im using warm tones. Please excuse the pillow shading. I just went around some of the edges. I go into a little more deatail on shading in my last lesson so feel free to look back on it. 17. Background! You can have the background as anything. Just make sure the colours dont clash. And your done! Enjoy your new work of art! Now onto homework! : Okay this week you will have 2 peices of homeowrk. 1. Follow this tutorial with your own charcter. Tweek some things if nessaseary but try to follow the tutorial closely so you can learn some new methods hopefully. 2. This will come in usefull when doing some commissions. Look at the fineshed peice i made. Its a side veiw. Try and draw it as a front view in your own style. Imagine, if I turned this charcter to face the front what would it look like. Dont change the design just go ofc of this peice and try to draw this charcter in this position, just cacing the front. Let me know if you have any questions :).
