Opens: Thursday 18th March, 12:01am EDT Closes: Thursday 25th March, 11:59pm EDT ~ Hi there! We're hosting our 11th SWC writing contest this March. This time, the judges are @Bellevue91, @Sunshine_the_Rainbow and myself, @-Alocasia. You will be judged for best character development, best plot, best style, best essay and best poem. There are also two extra categories, one of which is new this year - 'Juniors'! If you are 12 or under, you can choose to enter for this category. It is designed specifically for the younger members of SWC - not because we want to shut you out of competing for the 'official' prizes, but because we want to give you a more equal opportunity for your efforts and writing skills to shine! Qualifying for the Juniors category doesn't mean you are instantly barred from winning any of the other prizes - it just gives you one more category to enter. When you enter for Juniors, you automatically get considered for every other category - but if you *win* Juniors, you cannot also get "Best _", an honourable mention, or place in the top 3. If you don't want to share your age on Scratch, don't worry about entering for Juniors - this is a new idea, and we're still test-running how it works ^^ Secondly, there is a ‘fan-fiction’ category for fun. It doesn't count as an official entry, so you can submit two entries if one of them is fan-fiction. While you won't receive any points, you earn bragging rights. ;) There will also be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners, along with 5-7 honourable mentions. The amount of points you earn per category is: Juniors: 10,000 each Honourable Mentions: 15,000 each Best ___: 25,000 each Fifth: 25,000 Fourth: 30,000 Third: 35,000 Second: 40,000 First: 50,000 If you win big in the writing comp, it could turn tables for you and your cabin! The deadline to submit your entry is 11:59pm EDT on the 24th of March. I will close comments soon afterwards. Extensions of the deadline are generally not allowed, unless you have a really good reason and can submit by the 25th. FORM: Your entry (in a comment on THIS PROJECT) must consist of: • The title of the piece • What program you used to publish it (Fictionpress, discussion forums, a project, blank slate, etc.) • Your story's word count, • A link to your story, and • "Do you want to enter the Junior category?" (yes/no) The word count limit is no more than 2,000 words, no exceptions. Reminders: You can only enter once (unless one entry is fan-fiction). You cannot enter something you have entered in previous writing competitions, but it can have been written before this month. Comments that aren't questions or entries will be deleted. Also: It doesn't have to be a full story! Excerpts from your novel are great as well. Let's get writing! ~ Thumbnail by
