I'm beginning to regret doing WWI tanks.. but do them I must The very first tank ever successfully made and put into service. British Mark 1 Tank: The Mk. 1 Tank was the very first combat ready tank ever made and put into service. They were classified under 2 different types: Male and Female. The Female had machine guns scattered about the tank, whilst the Male had a 57mm six-pounder cannon on its sides. These tanks paved the way for a new, mechanized warfare. Only 1 original Male tank exist today and is housed at the same tank museum where Tiger 131 is housed.
