TW: gun violence, racism I just found out about the shooting in Atlanta, GA that occurred this week, and I wanted to address it a little bit. So I don't know too much about this incident, but I do know that it is one among many anti-Asian hate crimes that has happened during the pandemic. There hasn't been a lot of coverage on these crimes, and I feel that I should have done more to educate myself on Asian hate, especially where I live. If you have any resources that address this issue, let me know and I will gladly check them out and link them here so other people can access them. This should serve as a reminder for everyone that there are many kinds of racism, and it's important to learn about and try to stop all of them. Let's not ignore or turn away from any incident of racism, regardless of what group is being targeted. To all of my Asian American and Pacific Islander friends out there - know that I stand with you, and I am sorry for these tragedies that people are forcing on you. RESOURCES: Stop AAPI Hate website: https://stopaapihate.org/ There are a few articles about anti-Asian violence + hate crimes and how to support the AAPI community on Time and NBC, which I won't link because they have some more mature content. If you look up "Stop AAPI Hate" or "Stop Asian Hate", they should come up - please be warned that they might not be completely suitable for younger readers. I'd recommend looking through them with a parent or guardian. will add more as I do more research :)
