Music: Kings and Queens – Ava Max (don’t know if this has Annabeth vibes, but I like it anyway) I decided to highlight how much I'd improved at digital art since last March xD this is not to try and make me vain, just improve my self-esteem which unlike my art quality has d r o p p e d since last March- Anyway, anyway, here's the improvement. All the art’s non-realistic. 1. From early March 2020. March 4th? It was for @Rey_venclaw's long-completed PJO art collab. I unshared the original project but remixed it first here: https://scratch.mit.edu/projects/431906809 Anyway, this was some of my earliest original vector art, although I think the mountains were copied from a ref pic (it feels like such a long time ago). I was really proud of it when I first finished it! I'd used a couple of vector people tutorials but not followed them very strongly. I definitely didn't know the principle of putting the same amount of detail on each bit of the picture, so I skipped doing a lot on the skin etc as I found it difficult. Altogether, this needed so much improvement xD Resemblance to the character – as far as the style goes, pretty okay, I think. Curly blonde hair, grey eyes and a CHB t-shirt... not all there is to Annabeth by any means but covers the basics. 2. This redraw is from sometime in late March / April 2020, I think, judging by the eye, face, and hair style. I've improved a lot on skin texture and colouring, I think. The hand is much better – I used a reference – and the arms and probably proportions in general outdid the old ones. However, the style itself is kinda... ugly?... and the hair could do with way more detail and not being so distractingly messy. The pose is stiff and I don't like the face lol Resemblance to character went down, I think – hair isn't curly at all and Annabeth wouldn't stand around so stupidly like that xD 3. 2nd May 2020. I like this one much better than the previous one! Even though the arm holding the dagger is exactly the same and the shading is almost nonexistent, the different style on the face has made a real difference. Even though I'm not really a fan of my old style, all huge anime eyes that don't really go that well with the rest of the face, I much prefer it to the one from 2. There's also improvement in the hair – much less distracting with a bit more detail – although there's still a long way to go with shading etc. Resemblance to character – at least this looks relatively pretty? Hair is still not curly and it's probably too pale or something for the skin shade xD also, I think canonically Annabeth has tanned skin so that's wrong too lol 4 + 5: MY FAVOURITE!!! xDD I started drawing this on the 7th of March 2021 and I think it took until the 10th? It was going to be for @/windbyfire's dtiys of Annabeth on ig – clothing design belongs to them – but I decided not to post it there because it didn't go with my other art posted there and I was nervous I'd get criticism xD I didn't use a ref for pose or anything which I'm really proud of! I just sketched it out. I get that there's still a lot to work on... but I'm still so proud of this! The pose looks fairly natural; the anatomy, although not perfect, is passable; and the colouring, face, and expression are good, I think. I also think the background's pretty good (?) – it's meant to be the lake at CHB – and I really like the way I did the lake! I also think I've improved a whole lot on everything, especially lighting and shading. And anatomy. And colour choice. And drawing without refs. And... we could go on here xD I think the resemblance to the character is much better too. Curly blonde hair; tanned skin; grey eyes; pretty (?) = Annabeth Chase. Annabeth Chase is probably my favourite character – other than Percy – from the original series. I love her. She's just so amazing. Percabeth = OTP. No arguing :) Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading all that long description! It took ages to type but I enjoyed it xD I hadn't drawn any PJO fandom art since back then and so that was really fun to draw too :D I'm a daughter of Athena and a Ravenclaw too btw. Annabeth would definitely be in Ravenclaw, but where would Percy be? I don't thinkkkkk he'd be a Ravenclaw... but he does have traits from all of the other houses, I think. (Slytherins are good leaders; Gryffindors are brave; Hufflepuffs are loyal to their friends.) If you have an opinion on that, feel free to discuss with me in the comments!
