Falling Feathers Tears of Betrayal Chapter 1 (Artwork coming soon!)
The night was full of noises. The chirp of cicadas, the flutter of a lone owl, the howl of a wolf. But to Flash, everything was silent. He knew that there was more to his world, and he intended to find out what he was meant to be. He walks slowly and quietly back to the place where his family was hidden. There they are. His sisters, his mother and father. Flash tried to be as quiet as possible as he stalked over to Strike’s hollow. His sister was tucked tightly into a ball, with her snout buried under her tail. “Strike,” he whispers. “Strike, wake up.” Strike growls and rolls over, right onto Flash’s talons. Flash yelps in pain and jumps into the air. The noise he made woke Strike up. She bolted up into a standing position. “What?” Strike hissed. “It’s the middle of the night! Are you going mad?” Strike stalked forward and poked Flash’s snout. “Ow!” He yelped. “Stop hurting me! That's twice now! I only wanted to tell you my plan” Flash drops his voice to a whisper. “We have to go wake up Swift” Strike was clearly confused. But she didn’t argue. They both snuck back towards where their parents slept. Of course Swift was going to be sleeping near them. She couldn’t sleep on her own at night. And, yep, there she was. Huddled under Mother’s wing. Oh dear. That was going to be a struggle to wake her up without waking Mother. But, they’d have to try anyway. Flash opens his mouth, but Strike gets there first. “Swift,” Strike whispered. Swift’s head immediately bolted up, and she smacked her head on Mother’s wing. She whimpered and rubbed her head where it got hit. “Yes?” Swift asks, trying to look dignified. “Ok. Both of you, I had an amazing idea. I’ll tell you later, but let’s move so we don’t wake Mother and Father. Together, they trot away, with matching strides. Flash spots a suitable cave for them. They get inside and settle down. Swift huddles onto a patch of soft moss. “It’s cold,” she says as she sits down. Strike just sits on bare stone. She doesn’t care. Flash stays where he is. “Ok,” he says. “I had, like I said, an amazing idea-” “Would you just hurry up and tell us?” Of course, it's Strike. “Yes, yes. I’m getting there,” Flash snaps. “I thought, since we are always running away from all the soldiers, and hiding from other dragons, I thought we could run away.” (Next chapter: ) (Previous chapter: )
