This is my OC, Starlingsong. I'm pretty sure I need to explain her backstory for ANYTHING to make sense. (Her story is sad, and involves depression and taking of her own life, so if you're uncomfortable with those themes, don't read on.) Basically, Starlingsong was very depressed in her life. She had what was called "Smiling Depression." She would seem happy to anyone who didn't look deeper, but truly, she had lost her will to live. She had no awareness that there were cats out there that cared for her, loved her. One day she took her own life. Her clan was shocked and heartbroken. This had never happened in Willowclan (her clan), not even in the memories of the oldest of elders. So their leader at the time, Flowerstar, worked with the other clan leaders to make an addition to the code; always do your best to let your clanmates know how much you appreciate them. Starlingsong made it into Starclan, for although her actions had hurt her clan, they had also helped all of the clans, by making depression become a rarely seen thing. She spent the rest of her days as a Starclan cat visiting the dreams of cats whose spirits are low, and letting them know that they are loved, and that they are cared for, because in her own life she hadn't known that.
