Hey guys! Tutorial time B) Uh, space to advance. Any questions are welcome! Settings: Canvas size: 960 x 720 (?) DPI: 350 1 - Sketch. (Drawing pen 2) Just sketch out the position and expression of the subject. Reference images may be helpful here. 2 - Lineart. (Drawing pen 2) Since I sketch very closely to what my lineart will look like, I just... go over it, on a separate layer, in black. 3 - Hide sketch. (?) Make sure the lineart looks good. No gaps, no extra lines. Clean it up a bit if needed here. 4 - Scribble color (Drawing pen 2) Scribble the base color all behind the lineart on a new layer. Make sure the lineart is all filled in. 5 - Erase (Eraser) Erase all color outside the lineart. 6 - Eye white & nose (Pen) Idk why I made this a separate step :P It's pretty self-explanatory. 7 - Patterns (Assorted) Draw on any patterns with the correct tools. 8 - Eye color (pen) Once again, I'm not quite sure why this is it's own step :/ 9 - Flat shading (pen) New layer, clipped to the color. Multiply blending mode, halfish opacity. Shade any parts of the figure that would be directly in shadow. You also have to pick a light source before you do this step. I chose the upper right corner. 10 - Flat lighting (pen) New layer, clipped, below shading, add blending mode. Choose a color, and color over the entire figure with it. My colors will be in the upper left corner. 11 - More lighting! (Pen, with fade in-out) New layer, clipped to base colors, add mode. Draw along the places where the light will be the strongest. 12 - Blend lighting (Blur) Use the blur pen to blur the edges of the light you just added. 13 - More lighting! (Pen with fade in-out) New layer, clipped to base colors, add mode. So, this one is in a slightly darker color, and you like, do it around the lightning you already did. Idrk how to explain, sorry. 14 - Blending (Blur) Blend this lighting out too :P 15 - More lighting! (Pen, in-out fade) Same thing as the other two lighting layers we've done. (11 & 13) 16 - Stronger light (Pen) A new clipping layer over everything else, add mode. With a brighter color, color over all the other layers. Adjust the opacity until it looks right. 17 - Shading (Pen) New layer, clipping to base colors, multiply mode, lower opacity Around the areas you've already shaded, add more. 18 - Blend (blur) Blur out the shading. 19 - Grass New layer, behind everything else. For this, I used a custom brush that I made. has a tutorial about using medibang, including how to make this brush. 20 - Trees 1 (Chalk) Using the chalk brush, I added trees to the background, on a new layer, behind everything. 21 - Tree lines 1 (Chalk) New layer, clipped to the trees, overlay mode. I drew in the lines on the trees. 22 - Trees 2 (Chalk) I cheated and duplicated the other trees. :P 23 - Sky (Fluffy watercolor brush) uh- yeah! Just kinda filled it in! 24 - Lighting (Chalk, blur) Add mode, new layer. I used chalk then blurred it. 25 - Easing? (Soft Eraser) I erased a bit of the lightning to make it look better. 26 -Signature (Pen) Uh- self-explanatory. And done!
