Note: Lately me and my friends have been receiving mass reports on our projects. It’s not cool, and I’m doing nothing wrong by posting this project. If you decide to mass report this project, it won’t do you any good, and it may get you banned. Thank you, now onto the point. —————————————————————— Unfortunately, bullying is everywhere. A kid can walk down the street and be laughed at because of the colour of their skin. A teenager can go to school, and come home crying because their best friend told them they were fat. Bullying is in every school, in every state, in every country, in every part of the world. From 2016 to 2019, bullying increased by 35%. From 2019 to now, it’s gotten even worse. During the pandemic, it’s been common to go to a class and see a screen full of names rather than faces. You may be wondering, why? Kids between ages 12-18 tend to have the worst experiences with cyber bullying. Turning on their camera during a class meeting can be terrifying, especially when you have to deal with the “what ifs” such as “what if someone takes a picture of me?” “What if my hair isn’t brushed?” “What if someone makes fun of me?” And so on. Bullying isn’t just words, either. It can be shoving, hitting, kicking, and overall just straight up aggressive. With this being said, words can have a very strong affect on one’s heart, mind, and health. Some say “words are just words”, and I strongly disagree with this. Cussing, yelling, and verbal aggression, if it’s in text or in person, can have a huge toll on a person’s mental health. Think of it like this: if a girl is self conscious of her weight, and every day she is called names such as “fatty” “chubby” and so on, unless she has friends who can support her and get her out of it, she’s going to feel terrible about herself every day, and she may even starve herself because she feels the need to be unhealthily skinny. It’s the same with every gender. We’re all humans, and we all have emotions. As humans, our passion is to be loved, to be accepted, and to feel good about ourselves. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve met someone who was kind, good looking, smart, and funny, who hated themselves because they weren’t even close to being accepted. This brings me to my next point: jealousy. Unfortunately, jealousy can drive a person to do harmful things. If someone thinks you’re better than them, they may try to take you down because they are self conscious of themselves. This is very common in middle school, as a large amount of the tweens and teens are trying to find who they are. In my experience, I always knew who I was. It was the people who were jealous of me that made me think I didn’t know who I was. We all make mistakes, and we’re all human. We all have goals, talents, hard days, great days, and we all have hearts. No one deserves to be bullied.
