Hi! — Here’s part 5 of Piano Keys and a Mask!! [this one is a bit long oop xD] — Piano Keys & a Mask Part 4 (Adrien’s POV) Adrien was so surprised when Ladybug started to sing, that he nearly missed his cue. A sweet, soft melody that slowly turned into a powerful and beautiful song. /Whoa...her voice is...beautiful...\ he thought in awe. Ladybug turned as she sang, grinning at him, her spotted red and black dress swishing. Adrien smiled back and closed his eyes, feeling his music and her voice combine together and his smile grew bigger. He paused for a moment, his fingers hovering over the piano as Ladybug sang out the lyrics to the song, then when it was his turn, he pressed the keys, not missing any of the notes, due to the numerous times he had practiced beforehand. It was amazing. Nino was right, this was where he belonged, sitting on a stage, playing the piano with someone else singing next to him. For the first time, as he pressed the keys, he noticed the cute little freckles on Ladybug’s face and the way her eyes closed and her lips curled in a soft smile as she sang. They kept going like this, him playing the song on the piano and her singing by the microphone. And before he knew it, the song was over and he and Ladybug were heading down the stairs, passing the next act on their way down to the cafe once more. “He’s right, y’know.” Ladybug’s voice snapped Adrien back into focus as she smiled at him, her eyes sparkling. “I’ve always sung solo or with a music soundtrack playing in the background, but with a live piano, I really felt the music!” “I-i uh, thanks” he replied, startled to hear himself stuttering. /Why am I talking like this? And why does my face feel like it’s on fire?/ he thought, puzzled and nervous with Ladybug’s bright blue eyes fixed on him. “You were really good too!” Adrien commented, pushing back his thoughts into his mental ‘figure out your complicated girl feelings later’ box. “Aw, thanks!” Ladybug grinned, making Adrien’s heart feel like someone had released a million butterflies in his stomach. Or more accurately, a bunch of ladybugs. Nino clapped them both on their backs and said cheerfully, “Drinks on me! Ladybug, I’m assuming you’d like the usual?” She nodded and smiled at Nino, which made Adrien a bit jealous, even though he knew that was silly. “Thanks, Nino.” She said, brushing her hands along her dress. “What do you want, Adr- Chat?” Nino coughed, shooting an apologetic look at Adrien for almost slipping and saying his real name. Adrien smiled and met Nino’s eyes. /it’s fine/ he thought, and then, out loud, he said, “Uh, I’ll have a cup of black coffee?” Ladybug laughed, “Just like your name. Chat /Noir/!” Adrien suddenly had a flash of something unfamiliar and before he thought about what he was about to do, he replied, with mock-smugness. “That’s right, m’lady, I’m a black cat!” He bowed, taking her hand and flashed Ladybug a grin. She blinked at him, looking a bit startled and it occurred to him that he might’ve been layering the smooth-talking a bit too much, but then Ladybug snorted a very unladylike snort and said with laughter in her voice, “Alright, kitty cat. You’re-” “Yo, dudes!” Nino exclaimed, flopping next to Adrien on a chair and nearly spilling the drinks on them all. “How’re you doing?” Ladybug grabbed her drink, a glass of pink lemonade with mint leaves and ice cubes floating in the pink-ish orange liquid. “Careful with that, Nino!” She chided. “You almost spilled our drinks!” Despite her scolding words, Adrien noticed that Ladybug was smiling. She seemed to always be in a good mood, from when he’d seen so far and he liked that about her, along with all of her other wonderful qualities. /wait, does that mean that I like her?/ Adrien thought, a jolt shocking him. He took his coffee cup from Nino, sipped on some, and watched the performers on the stage, lost in thought. He had never had a crush on anyone before, especially since his father had kept him locked up in the Agreste Mansion for nearly all of his life, so he didn’t get to meet many people in general. Of course, he had Chloe Bourgeois, his best friend since he was little. He knew that she had a huge crush on him ever since they had met, but he didn’t return her feelings. Chloe was awesome and all, but Adrien found her to be a little bit aggravating and clingy at some times. [cont in Notes and Credits] __
