You can hit space to see what he used to look like. One of the Lord of Shadow's personal servants, he is obviously the Shadowlord's favorite servant. This means he gets a few perks that the other servants do not (which include, among other things, a bedroom that is slightly larger, a pair of blankets instead of a straw mattress, and limited authority over other servants), but it also comes with a few downsides (like, for example, greater attention from the Shadowlord than the other servants, a painful and unnecessary surgical alteration that gave him red eyes, and the fact that his room is right across the hall from the Shadowlord's private quarters). He used to be an Evergreen Sect Otameran, but that changed when the Rorotan he was serving met a messy end at the hand of one of the Shadowlord's fiends. He doesn't like the Shadowlord any more than the next guy but has seen what the Shadowlord's fiends can do up close and in VERY grisly detail, and lives in near-constant mortal terror of the Shadowlord as a result. He outright refuses to be a part of any plan to escape the in-between tunnels, kill the Shadowlord, or otherwise do anything the Shadowlord wouldn't approve of, and strongly advises against such schemes. Moreover, he'll spill the beans on any such plans that he's aware of the moment he thinks the Shadowlord suspects something. This can lead to amusing situations where the Shadowlord asks him a fairly innocuous question and gets a response that he does not expect. For example: "Hello, Leo. I trust that none of the servants are planning anything I wouldn't approve of?" "I...I...-*sputter sputter sputter*" "Good, now, I'm going to go take a nice, long show-" "I overheard David! He was planning on filling your showerhead with yellow mold! I wasn't involved! I swear!!" "...okay then, maybe I shouldn't take a shower yet."
How he ended up here: Leo scrambled through the tunnels, carrying a Standard Issue Evergreen Sect flashlight in his mouth. The memory of his former companion's screams was still fresh in his mind; they were on their way out of the in-between tunnels when something leaped out from around a corner; a massive creature made of what appeared to be solid darkness. The Rotoran he was working for stood his ground and was grabbed by that monster. Before Leo could even blink, the creature had torn that Rotoran open like a birthday pinata, his shredded organs raining out like candy... Leo tripped over a rock. The flashlight flew right out of his mouth and turned off as it hit the ground. Suddenly in darkness, Leo frantically felt around where he thought he saw the flashlight land. After several long moments, he found it and flipped its switch. The flashlight didn't turn on. Leo tried the switch once, twice, three times. The flashlight finally lit on the third try, its light flickering. That was when he noticed that the light looked different. Looking down at the flashlight itself, he noticed that the glass of the light's lens was shattered. And then the flashlight went out and didn't come back on. It was broken. Leo stood there for a long second, as his blood stopped pumping and the chilly air of the caves set in. He slowly felt his way across the floor until he found a wall. Cold and tired, he curled up against the wall. Despite his better judgment, his eyes started to close... Light. Leo opened his eyes slowly. A dim, red light could be seen in the distance. And in the light was a shadow in the shape of a Rotoran. "...hello?" Leo called out. Could someone have come looking for him? Or was he hallucinating? There could be hallucinogenic gasses in the air, for all he knew- Suddenly, the head of the shadow turned to face him, and then the red light went out. For a minute that seemed to stretch on like eternity, Leo could hear the footsteps of that Rorotan as it walked towards him. And then a pair of glowing eyes, red as his former companion's blood, opened right in front of him. "Hello there." The creature's voice was long, drawn-out, and snakelike. Leo screamed. He spun around and tried to run, only to be stopped by something grabbing him by the back leg. Before he could pull himself free, several tentacles, blacker than the darkness around him, had wrapped themselves around him, lifted him up, and carried him right back to the pair of eyes. "L-L-Let me go! Please! I'm too young to die!!!" One of the tendrils reached up and gently caressed Leo's fur. "I'm not going to kill you. Where would the fun be in that?"
