This is where I'm going to rant about Raya and the Last Dragon. MASSIVE SPOILERS AHEAD. feel free to comment your opinions, just don't expect to change my mind anytime soon AHEM, Lets begin. Ok first off, I LOVED IT, Lately it seems most shows and movies have been pretty awful and I went into Raya prepared for the worst. However I was pleasantly surprised, yeah there were a few problems, but for the most part it was a good wholesome movie with a great message. Unlike other Disney princess movies there were not any sing-alongs which I know might come as a disappointment to some, but I loved it. The background soundtrack was on the spot perfectly matching the mood of each scene. Now one problem was Numaari, I felt like she had a lot of wasted potential, I mean she could have been as good a character as Zuko From Avatar the last Air Bender, and instead she just sort of flopped, there should have been more redemption in her character arc. And speaking of Avatar the Last Air Bender there were a LOT of similarities there. Raya is a mix of Sokka and Katara and Sisu could totally be Aang. I might embellish on that later. Moving on... The movies core lesson was that sometimes you have to trust people to fix the world, which is a very valid point. But there was quite a few betrayals in the movie that resulted in a lot of heartache, for instance poor Raya was betrayed by Numaari twice and both times lost people she loved. The first time in the beginning of the movie her father was turned to stone, and the second time near the Dramatic Final, Sisu was killed. No worries though Sisu was saved by her siblings in the end, when all the dragons came back. And random observation: The fighting/ninja/street kid Noi is going to be the GREATEST fighter their world has ever seen when she grows up. I mean if she's that good when she's a toddler and she's only going to get better.... I'm back and after watching a second time I have more to say as well as some questions. First off, when people get turned to stone, are they aware of what goes on around them or is it like they're asleep? Also how long was Tongs family stone? And how long had the Tail chief been dead? I mean she was already a skeleton, soooo...? And Last question for now, here's how crazy my brain is: in that one scene where Raya meets Sisu and their conversation about the gem goes like this: "YOU BROKE IT!" "umm well I still have a big chunk of it." "Is that supposed to make me feel better?!?! If you lost a puppy and I said 'WELL AT LEAST WE STILL HAVE A BIG CHUNK OF IT' would THAT make you feel better?!?" my crazy brain asks: "What part of the puppy is the chunk?" that's all for now folks.
