Making a generic platformer isn't an unforgivable sin, but it's not great. Try stepping out your comfort zone and make something you haven't seen been done before. The worst thing you can do is shame and abuse people for making these games. Yeah, I hate advertising and such, but you know what's worse? The toxic comments saying "NO ADVERTISING" and picking on people.
