There are seven letters, each representing a number. I: 1 V: 5 X: 10 L: 50 C: 100 D: 500 M:1000 When a symbol is present after a greater symbol or itself, it gets added. When it is present before a greater symbol, it gets subtracted from the greater symbol. You cannot use the same symbol more than three times in a row.
