Just how powerful can a word be? A lot more powerful than people seem to think. A word can shake somebody's entire world. Let me elaborate. What is a word? Well, it's a small piece of something we want to say, from my perspective. And what some people want to say... isn't the best. From where I stand, words are a tool. A tool to show people what you think. What you say can affect people for better or for worse. Sometimes, that effect is worse than if you slapped them in the face. Let's be real here. The wrong words can drive people to die. The wrong words are like scars, as you go on, you get more and more of them, and it shows when they start to weigh you down. Except the pain is worse, because a scar is just a memory of a faded event. But a word? They keep hurting, just as badly as when they were received. And then we're treated like we're weak! Because obviously, "its just something they said". Like that makes the pain any less real. As much as I've avoided telling you guys, do you know why I know that words can drive people to die? Because that's what almost happened to me. I'm just going to come right out and say it: I've come really close to ending my life, ok? Because people haven't been the best to me, and the words, like I said, stuck around like scars, hurting every second, weighing me down, just making my existence miserable. And to top it all off, I had a dark, nagging feeling that I could never tell anyone about it. Do you want to know why I didn't do it? Why I decided to keep living? Because fortunately, the opposite of what I said before is also true. Just like the wrong words can drive people to die, the right words can drive people to keep on living. Do you want to know where I found the right words? You guys. All of you. You showed me that there are still good people in this world. That there are people who will listen to me. Comfort me instead of presenting a list of the reasons I shouldn't be sad. Try to relate, even when it makes it a little awkward. You all, quite literally, saved my life. So, what I'm trying to say here is, words matter. So much more than people know. You honestly just don't know how powerful a word can be until it's said about you. A. Word. Can. Shake. A. Person's.
