The Middle Ages: 400-1400 All music is sacred! Monophonic There are a limited amount of instruments in the middle ages, including drums trumpets harps lutes flutes recorders and more. The gregorian chant is the most popular type of music, sang with one person in a church in latin. No written music, everything was known by memorization There is little to nothing going on in the background because the dark ages were really simple and sad, which is the reason there is lightning and rain. There is little to nothing in the level and difficulty because there was little to nothing at that time. De Machaut is the most famous composer of the time The Renaissance: 1400-1600ish polyphonic There are 4 classes of people, in my game, we are playing as a noble because its fun to be rich. People in general also have lots of money Things are getting a little more complex with music and you can see that in the difficulty and simplicity I am showing of a madrigal and everybody is fancy and not sacred instruments include: sackbut Drums harpsicord primitive viola and violin The Baroque Era: 1600-1750 Lots of different musics Many instruments, and things are starting to get complex There are majot and minor scales People are really fancy Things are also kind of weird, which is why shrek is there and the green ugly tint on the background bach is the big composer The Classical Era: 1750-1830 Classical is very very in order and fancy (really fancy) things are elegant different "phonics", like mono and poly mainly homophonic Lots more instruments Haydn motzart and beethoven are the big 3 orchestras are now really big The golden hue is representing the fanciness the wig is still there from the baroque era because people are still wearing wigs there is the same lava obstacle from the baroque era except this time it represents the big 3 composers violins violas drums recorders pianos sonatas are famous minuets are also famous The Romantic Era: 1830-1900 lots of stuff is weird mostly homophonic piano violin flute viola drums (not much different from the classical era) motifs are popular romance and etude are big composeres include chopin, schubert emotion and mystical music have a big part in this music. Things are more sad than before The 20th Century: everything from before is thrown out the window 1900-2000 7 "isms" serialism atonalism minilism modernism neoclassisism impressionism expressionism They wanted to go back to simpler times and so they destroyed all of the systems from before and just restarted in this they made everything go sideways. lots of instruments, including: guitar electric guitar midi drum set The rapid changing colors represent all of the changing music and the craziness the beatles are a famous composer distinguishing characteristics: everything is crazy nothing is normal the reason there is no challenge is because things are too confusing to understand. https://hellomusictheory.com/learn/medieval-era-composers/ Special credits to all the composers that invented all of the cool music I used. https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/guides/z2mv34j/revision/2 songs used: la campanella fur elise rain thunder renaissance music in a castle minuet in G major
