"Well I think we're all a little ADHD." Oh really? That's kinda funny. Because the people who say this are the same people who get on to me for 'not trying hard enough' and yell at me to 'chill' because it's 'not a big deal.' Idk about you, but that seems pretty stupid. You claim that you have ADHD, but get onto me for having it? It's not like I have any control over it. It's not like any moment I could just stop having ADHD. I mean, I wish I could. It would make school so much easier. It would make LIFE so much easier. But you know what? It's fine. I can just 'try harder,' that's what you said, right? But I can't. A neurotypical can talk a lot, or be forgetful, or have a short attention span. But that doesn't mean that they have ADHD. It's an actual neurological disorder. That actual people struggle with. If you met someone that couldn't walk, you wouldn't say "Well I think we're all a little crippled." Just- no. Nobody in the right mind would say that. Anyone could stub their toe, or break a bone. But that doesn't make them disabled. So why is this any different? Listen children. Just think for a second. Where the heck did you come up with the idea that everyone has ADHD? You have no idea how it feels to take ages to do assignments that are supposed to be 'easy.' You don't know what it's like to never be able to think clearly because of how many thoughts are speeding through your head. You don't know what it's like to be stereotyped to the point that some people can't even get a diagnosis because they're 'too smart.' You don't know what it's like for your struggles to be so underrepresented that people dismiss you as lazy. You don't know ANYTHING about ADHD. Because if you did, you wouldn't claim that everyone has it. It doesn't matter whether you have good intentions in saying it or not. Because by doing that, you're pushing down those who actually have it. And that hurts. Bad.
Go check out @-Add-Some-Color- Her rants are what inspired me to make this in the first place. That, and the amount of insanely stupid stereotypes surrounding ADHD. Seriously y'all. Just because it isn't visible, doesn't mean it isn't valid. All brains are human brains.
