as you may or may not know there are a lot of people in the world who don't respect people of colour. I (an asian, filipino girl) have seen A LOT of racist comments among the internet. luckily not on scratch but they're still out there. I've experienced racist teacher, students and student's parents. for example: my white (I'm not saying every white person is racist) teacher kept mixing up the two brown girls in my class ALL THE TIME. also, one of my teachers said a word that used to be (and sadly, still is) used against black people. these are some examples of people of today being racist. what is a "person of colour"? A person of colour is someone who is either: brown black Asian Hispanic etc... start to understand now? I myself am an Asian-Canadian. Message for those who discriminate (bully) people of colour: please don't discriminate, bully or ignore people for their skin colour, background, beliefs, eye shape, clothing or cultural food. If someone pointed out your imperfections, how would you feel, if someone made fun of your culture how would you feel? Message for people of colour: feel free to vent out your feelings here! If you are being discriminated, bullied or ignored due to your culture, skin colour, eyes shape, clothing, belief or cultural food, tell someone you can trust about it. don't be scared. people have been FIRED because they were racist. speak out.
If you think the term "person of colour" is offensive I am so sorry! I use that term to describe... well, there's a long list. but If you feel it is offensive I am really, really sorry!
