April 14, 2021 @Mysterious_Cookie Hello. Hopefully my future self and others are reading this in the future. I just wanted to say, Scratch isn't very.. nice.. right now. There's spamming, mass reporting, bullies, hate, so much more that I can't keep track of. The only thing that motivates me are my friends and fans. But even some are trying to take that away from me and from others. I've recently noticed a bunch of generic games and projects on the trending page. I'm not saying everyone's project is horrible, I'm not pointing anyone out either. But this has got to stop. Scratch isn't a competition for fame- it isn't a social media either. #SIASM . People are now thinking making something like a cube jumping over spikes is going to get them popular because that's whats on 'top loved' and 'trending'. They don't even put actual effort. All they do is take an engine from somewhere, draw grass and spikes, and click share. People are not actually putting effort and are not growing or learning from creating those projects. And then they receive over 5,000 views over nothing, instead of getting loves and views on actual projects that people put effort on. It turns out that most people creating generic projects are overrated, and people creating projects with actual effort have less than 100 followers. Sigh. I honestly think followers should be removed or replaced with friends. But I do not completely agree with that. If they remove followers, people might have a friend and forget their username or something. The idea of replacing followers as friends was rejected and removed, because the Scratch Team thought it would be offensive if the user didn't have 'friends' on Scratch. We have to find a way to stop this, and fast. But that way is not "telling famous people to remove their followers", that is misjudging and unfair. But we can all work together to spread awareness. - @Mysterious_Cookie Inspired by @-NerdAnimator- :)
