Earth Day 2021 Earth Day is a yearly event on April 22. It was first held in 1970, and has been ongoing ever since. This day is to celebrate our Earth and give out ideas to make it a better place to live. Click the green flag to explore this interactive project! What can I do to help the Earth? • Reuse, Reduce, and Recycle! • Plant a tree • Use less water when showering or brushing your teeth • Volunteer to clean up trash around your community • Save electricity by turning off lights when leaving the room, going outside more, and using less electronics • Put up posters to spread the news Global Warming • There has been a drastic increase in temperature, also called global warming or climate change. This became a national issue in 1988, due to humans polluting and letting too much carbon dioxide and “greenhouse gases” into the atmosphere, creating a “bubble” that traps heat. This has led to animals losing habitats, such as polar bear ice caps melting. In some places, extreme weather events and rainfall are becoming more common, while other areas are getting more heat waves and droughts. • You can help prevent more increasing of climate change by.. 1. Instead of riding a car to places that are a few minutes away, walk or ride a bike 2. Use less electricity (turn off lights, use less electronics) 3. Eat less meat 4. Grow more plants (to increase the amount of oxygen released) 5. Take shorter showers/turn off water
