<<DISCLAIMER! This is not meant to hurt anyone, and isn't targeted specifically at ANYONE.>> Okay. So I have been seeing a lot of "being biased" here on scratch, and its not very nice. When I say this I mean being biased towards scratchers with FOLLOWERS. This particularly goes with contests, and MAP tryouts and/or applications. Now i know this may seem like a topic thats "not a big deal", but it IS. Ever see a Scratcher and say "hey your UNDERRATED"? Well chances are, thats because people over them when it comes to followers. I have actually seen try-out MAPs where theres only one tryout, and thats the popular scratcher, who also got the part almost instantly. No other Scratchers that wanted that part even got a chance. Some were even better animators and were still looked over by the host. Thats why people are underrated. Because they dont have as many followers, and are over-looked. < contests > This one in particular angers me. Ill set you an example and you will see why: someone is hosting a contest and there are some great and underrated animators there. Then a popular scratcher joins, and wins, even if the other's entries are just as good, and dare I say, BETTER. Its because of being, you guessed it, BIASED. All of a suddon the popular scratcher wins because they joined, and the others are forgotten. and some fans join too, which makes the contest even harder, and shading the underrated scratchers more. This has happened to me before. I joined something, but someone with more followers joins, and suddenly, no one seems to care that I am in the contest at all. And if you have watched the unfamous, by @huntedskelly, you would remember this line: "a little bit of love, can go a long way" or something in that zone. One of my favorite lines of the whole series. In fact, @dinoboi_animations got famous, because @abovetherainbow followed him, and said,"you are pretty dang underrated". One click was all it took. One person noticing him made him skyrocket in followers, and he finally got noticed! Now Im not telling you to be fame hungry, because, in the true words of @eloctrysd (correct me if im wrong) ,"dont chase fame, fame sucks." Yea. So the next time you see someone underrated, give them some love and support. -ADGIC out
