Edit: I come back from a break to find that suddenly @9rainbowtails and like several other people all loved and favorited this--thank you all so much!! *A NEW THEORIST STEPS INTO THE RING* I know I've never done one of these before, but I saw this beautiful animation and I was like "H M ?" Maybe I'll be completely off, since I don't follow what's happening with you, ToPH, and all your other stuff too closely, but hopefully it'll be amusing either way? If I'm waaaaaay off, at least you'll have something to laugh about! Anyways, onto the theory! To clarify real quick, I'm not going to use previous projects as references and evidence, since I wouldn't even know where to begin. Huge props to the people who do that, though-- Also, if I sound "know-it-all" and snooty, I'm sorry. I don't mean to, but that's just kind of how I end up writing this all--if you want to talk ideas with me, though, I'd love to!! I've been looking through the theories on this, and a lot of people think that the second Ranboo--who I'm dubbing "Dark Ranboo" for this--is Ranboo from an AU, or a clone gone wrong. I think those are interesting takes, but personally, I think everyone's looking at it a little too figuratively. First off, though: Is the pen magic? No. It's not. It's just an electronic pen that you use with a drawing tablet. It's just a pen, but I think it's important to note that the pen is her pen--it's the pen she uses to draw everything she posts. It looks like magic because you can create anything with it, so long as you're creating it in the drawn world. (If you look, this is why the crown began as an outline, then became an actual crown) Secondly: Who is Dark Ranboo? Honestly, I think Dark Ranboo is Ranboo, but just a different side of her. Think about it for a moment-- I think it's important to note when Dark Ranboo first shows up in the AMV: on the lyrics "Everybody loves me". This feels like it's referring to Ranboo's fans, and even more so when Dark Ranboo exits to address the crowd. There are specific people in the crowd because those are specific scratchers--all people who follow her. (correct me if I'm wrong) I think Ranboo is... afraid. I think that entire scene is a metaphor for the fact that she's afraid she's ruling over her followers, or that everyone sees her as an art goddess, and nothing else. Let's go back to one of the earlier scenes where she throws away the pen. Focus deeply on her expression--it's not one of annoyance (arrrg, art block!), or confusion (how should I draw this?), but of pain. At that moment, it appears as if she genuinely doesn't want to draw, and, because of that, throws it all away. Yeah, maybe I'm looking at this too literally instead of figuratively, or from a fantasy aspect. But having something as popular as ToPH--to the point where you may only be remembered for that, and have so many people asking when the next part will come out--can ruin you emotionally. So, I think, my final question here is: Are you doing alright, Ranboo? Are you afraid the fame is going to your head, or that people are forgetting you're a person behind that screen? I hope that's not the case, Ranboo <3
